Another day closer to Friday, and another day closer to 1/20/09…
- A new poll shows that if Obama gets the nomination, more Dems could go for McCain, same if Clinton gets the nod over Obama. (NO!!!! God damnit, we can’t let that happen… never has it ever been more important to vote your party than it is in this election… if we elect McCain, we get 4 more years of a Bush-style presidency – end of discussion. As much as I dislike Ms. Clinton right now, if she gets the nomination, I will vote for her in November. To do otherwise would be a slap in the face of the nation and will ensure we have at least 4 more years in Iraq, 4 more years of economic crap, 4 more years of ignoring the Constitution and 4 more years of HELL… VOTE THE PARTY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!)
- New GDP numbers released this morning show the economy grew by a scant 0.6% in the fourth-quarter of last year, numbers that “confirm the slump” that the economy has entered and matched the expectations of weak growth predicted by many economists… (or in using-your-own-brain-and-not-the-government-definition words; a recession)
- Sen. Obama says the U.S. government should play an active role in improving the American people's well-being… (conservative whining about government being too-involved in people’s lives unless it deals with fetuses in five, four, three…)
- The U.S. has charged Puerto Rican Gov. Anibal Acevedo Vila on 19 counts stemming from a long-running campaign finance probe… though in his defense, he’s just trying to act like his U.S. bretheren…
- A gaggle of Senators are asking for details regarding the recent sale of Bears-Stearns to JP Morgan Chase, who was able to buy the troubled firm after the Federal Reserve backed it with billions in taxpayer dollars… (stay tuned)
- According to a federal indictment that was unsealed yesterday, Saddam Hussein's intelligence agency footed the bill for a U.S. congressional delegation's trip as evidence for invading Iraq war was being built-up…
- “President” Bush will be visiting President Vladimir Putin next month… so there’s another country we will be able to add to the list of Bush antagonizing…
- And have we mentioned? That Sen. Lindsey Graham (r-SC) has 2 new BFF’s? During a recent interview, Graham called Sens. McCain and Lieberman “something special” (ewwww) and said Lieberman is a “national treasure”… (Um, okay? This has to be the ickiest thing said by a republican since Larry Craig’s ‘wide stance’ argument… Lieberman is a national tool, not a treasure, and the three of them really need to get a room somewhere…)
