The Wednesday ‘BushWhacking’

  • “President” Bush is going to visit the post-Gustav areas to witness the damage… ya know just how he did with Katrina… many days later. I guess people CAN learn from their boneheaded mistakes…
  • Former Attorney General Alberto Gonzales was scolded by the Justice Department for mishandling highly classified documents about the administration’s eavesdropping program and interrogation of terror detainees. Their report says that he failed to store the documents in properly secured facilities and at one point even took them home, storing them in his briefcase because he didn’t know the combination to his house safe. Sounds like a criminal act to me… but, naturally, no prosecution… way to maintain the law there guys…
  • Bush says Sen. McCain is the “man we need.” (Yeah, like your endorsement carries any sway with voters… or with McCain, why do you think he’s avoiding you?)
  • CNN Headline; “GOP Convention Marked by Nostalgia” (well sure, if by ‘nostalgia’ you mean a bunch of old fuddy-duddies [looking at you Joe] yapping monotone [cough, cough Fred Thompson, cough cough] and saying nothing, than it IS marked by nostalgia. And a LOT of sleep…)
  • Gay republicans are trying to convince their party that they’re on the wrong side of the same-sex marriage issue… (yeah, that should be an easy sell; let me know how that works out for ya)
  • Tonight VP candidate Sarah Quayle Palin speaks… this should be fun.
  • CNN’s Jack Cafferty nails it again; “For four days, they will labor under the illusion their party is still relevant. It's not. It is entirely fitting that the headliner for this masquerade is a feeble looking 72-year-old white guy who doesn't know how many homes he owns. […] Republicans stand to be turned out of office at every level---from the U.S. Congress to governors' mansions and state legislatures. Republicans who remain in office will be rendered impotent by their shrinking numbers. […] Republicans under George W. Bush have done a lot of damage to this country in the last eight years---but they have done more damage to themselves. It will take a good long while and a great deal of soul searching before their brand returns to the shelves in good standing. Don't look for it to happen in St. Paul, Minnesota. This week, Republicans will be happy in the land of make believe.” (Well said Jack… thank you)
  • Rep. Ron Paul is having his own convention
  • Vice President Dick “President” Cheney is not attending the convention and instead is involved in a tour of three ex-Soviet republics that are, rightfully wary of Russia’s intentions following the recent Russia/Georgia battle. Next stop, Azerbaijan…
  • And have we mentioned? That President Bush 1 doesn’t like drawn-out speeches? Huffington Post has posted video of Bush trying to check his watch nonchalantly (he failed) while first lady Laura Bush speaks. Wait until he has to sit through Quayle Palin and McCain, he’ll be staring at his watch and cursing the sky . and remember, this isn’t the first time he’s done this… during a 1992 televised debate with Bill Clinton and Ron Paul H. Ross Perot, Bush was caught by a camera looking at his wristwatch while Clinton addressed an audience member that had explained her recent economic recession-related struggles. That should make for an interesting family get together next time…

I’m tired of the McCain=Bush mentality of the Democrats. If they don’t change that tone, they will lose in Nov. McCain ran AGAINST Bush in 2000, Critizised Bush for his right leaning ideas, and McCain was critizised (and lost cause of it) for being liberal. Democrats are trying to connect a straight line through a windy maze which is why they are losing ground after the convention for the SECOND election in a row. Gore=Kerry=Obama=loss in Nov. 08. How’s that for comparison?
