Different Views

Caught wind of this via Wonkette.

Do you want further proof that we (meaning Americans) as a whole are becoming a nation of pop-culture whores?

The new issue of Newsweek is out.

Here’s the cover illustrations for the European, Asian & Latin American versions, all with the title for the cover story: “Losing Afghanistan"

Now here's the cover art and cover story title for theUnited States version:

Notice anything??

Yes… while the other three are pushing the serious topic of how the U.S. is losing the battle in Afghanistan, the U.S. version is pushing a story about Annie Leibovitz...

Pathetic... isn’t it??

I mean... come on now are you fuc**** kidding me?? A cover story on Annie Leibovitz???

I don’t know who to be more mad at: the media for fostering this absurdity and Bush-love mentality... or we the people for allowing us to be ‘dummed-down’ by the media.

Your thoughts??

As much as I abhor the Bush administration, you have to admit, they've crushed discourse with frightening efficienty.

They can't put losing Afganistan on the US cover of Newsweek. All of the far righters would accuse Time-Warner of supporting terrorists
