It’s Friday… ‘nuff said.
- Sen. John Warner (r-VA) is calling for an immediate pullout of U.S troops from Iraq… (cause no one has ever suggested that before. What’s that, he’s a republican… meh)
- Wan Kim, the head of the DOJ’s Civil Rights Division is resigning at the end of August… (I know I’ve said this many times before, but will the last Bush appointee in DC turn off the lights?)
- An updated National Intelligence Estimate was released yesterday and it gives what can best be described as a mixed picture of the situation in Iraq, but at the same time warned that any drawdown of troops would “erode security gains achieved thus far.” (Never mind that most people don’t know what ‘security gains’ they’re speaking of, but I think we just saw a preview of
Petraeus’the White House’s September report)
The fallout from Bush’s comparing Iraq to Vietnam continues… - And have we mentioned? That the outgoing Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, Gen. Peter Pace, wants to urge “President” Bush to cut U.S. troop levels in Iraq next year? (And now we know why he is the ‘outgoing’ Chairman…)
