I saw this on Crooks and Liars and have to agree.
This could very well be the dumbest thing I have ever seen written. I mean, think about it… what kind of columnist would cite the Nazis as an example to show that the U.S. could deport twelve million people easily?
”Not only will it work, but one can easily estimate how long it would take. If it took the Germans less than four years to rid themselves of 6 million Jews, many of whom spoke German and were fully integrated into German society, it couldn't possibly take more than eight years to deport 12 million illegal aliens, many of whom don't speak English and are not integrated into American society.”
I understand using historical events to prove a point... but the Nazis?? When you start going that far to prove a point... you've lost something...
It’s just wrong....

Well, 6 million? How come they nudged the official Auschwitz bodycount from 4 million to "around one million"?
I'm not sure that's the dumbest thing written. The dumbest thing written would be if someone said the US should deport all non-native Indian speaking immigrants.
Plus, that happened 60 years ago, so even if it was a relevant comparison (which is isn't) or in reasonable taste (which it isn't) it STILL wouldn't be a valid point.
It is the stupidist thing ever written.
If you are justifying a decision using the Nazis as an example it probably isnt a very good or well thought out decision.
