• Sen. Obama’s 30-minute campaign commercial last night was a resounding success… naturally Sen. McCain tried to squelch the success but instead came off as someone who was more jealous of Obama having the money to do such a thing than anything else…
• Apparently CNN just learned that retiree and student voters exist and aren’t just worried about themselves but their children and grandchildren and about ethics and economics respectively…
• Seventy-six Nobel Prize laureates in science endorsed Obama yesterday and cited his “commitment to improving U.S. competitiveness by boosting science, technology, education and research” as the reasoning behind the endorsement. The group of 76 also took the announcement as an opportunity to criticize the Bush(whacked) Administration for “damaging scientific development.”
• McCain says race won’t decide this election…if McCain’s addle-minded brain can determine that, everyone should be able to…
• Obama has strengthened his electoral map lead in CNN’s so-called “Poll of Polls.” What does that mean? Absolutely nothing…
• Oh, Exxon Mobil’s third-quarter profits were $14.83 billion and shattered its own record for the biggest profit from operations by a U.S. corporation… doesn’t that make you feel better?
• With each passing day of shilling for McCain, Sen. Joe Lieberman comes that much closer to being politically insignificant in the event of a large Democratic take-over of the Senate, and in the process will lose his chairmanship on the Senate Homeland Security Committee… (Bout time…)
• And have we mentioned? That a new poll from the University of Texas and the Texas Politics Project found 23%, nearly a quarter of those responding, wrongly think that Sen. Obama is a Muslim. Some good news is that 45% accurately identified him as Protestant, while another 28% did not know Obama’s religion and 0.2% believe that Obama is a Hindu – don’t ask me where that one came from – (while the pollsters did not speculate why so many Texans wrongly identify his religion, I will… lying. Pure, unadulterated lying by conservatives in a desperate attempt to monger some fear...)

Sen. McCain is spewing his venom-filled rhetoric in a barnstorm across multiple towns in Ohio…

Gov. Palin is doing her song and dance (all style-no substance) in Missouri and Pennsylvania…

In case you hadn’t heard, the republican calls for Sen. Ted Stevens, a republican himself, to resign his senate seat are getting louder and more plentiful by the minute.

Earlier in the week Sen. McCain and Gov. Palin have suggested Stevens should resign, as have republican senators Jim DeMint (SC), Lindsey Graham (SC), Gordon Smith (OR), and Norm Coleman (MN). …

Today it was Senate minority leader Mitch McConnell (r-KY) telling The Lexington Herald-Leader; “I think he should resign immediately. [..]If he did not do that … there is a 100 percent certainty that he would be expelled from the Senate.”

And then you have republican Rep. Don Young of Alaska, who is also under investigation by federal officials by the way, who told the Anchorage Daily News; “I can remember Richard Nixon, you know, his years of service, what he's done, and everybody [was] ridiculing him, and he ended up being the greatest president in the history of our century. ... The Senator will be re-elected. He will appeal it. When he does go, he will win it because there's no way this is a jury of his peers.”

Um… okay.

First, let me just say this; Richard Nixon, ‘greatest president of our century’… really? What would Ronnie say?

Second; it’s clear that some people are SO immerse in their corruption that they don’t even recognize the reality or severity of their crimes… Mr. Young, like Mr. Stevens, is one of those people.

Third; with the ever-growing calls for Stevens to step down, what exactly is he waiting for?

Tonight Sen. Obama will do something that has never been done before for a presidential candidate.
He will be an infomercial.

And apparently this has pissed off Sen. McCain as he tried, and failed, to mock Obama this morning for having the money to pull off something that McCain, with as little money as he has, would LOVE to do… buy 30-minutes of Primetime television.

Said McCain; “No one will delay the World Series with an infomercial when I'm president…”

Can we say ‘pandering’? Cause that’s what that was… pure pandering.

According to Fox Account Executive Joe Coppola; “Our first pitch for the world series is usually around 8:30 anyway – so we didn’t push back the game, it was really just about suspending the pre-game -- you know, Joe Buck. […] That’s all we did. […] We didn’t push back the game at all. […] By no means did they push to get us to accommodate them with Game Six. We’re just missing the pregame, which isn’t a big deal for us. It was a business decision.”

Ya see… initially Obama had arranged to buy the time on Fox only if the World Series were over before Game Six… but Fox then decided to sell the campaign the time regardless if the game was played or not.

So it came down to one thing and one thing only; money.

So, it was a Fox decision to sell the pre-game time and thus spare all of us of having to listen to the droning of Joe Buck (he ain’t his Dad) and Tim McCarver and not delay the first pitch at all.

So in other words, Obama isn’t delaying a sporting event…

Too bad McCain can’t claim the same.

• The Fed is expected to announce new rate-cuts today… causing stocks worldwide to rally. Let’s hope it keeps up…
• Sen. Obama is still stumping in swing-state Pennsylvania…
• Today’s “CNN Headline-that-makes-them-sound-like-Fox ‘News’” is “Will Obama’s lead in the polls last?”
• Today’s “Second-CNN Headline-that-makes-them-sound-like-Fox ‘News’” is “Obama Breaks Promise.” (Give me an effin break CNN… you keep sounding like Fox, people will start tuning you off like Fox…)
• Sen. McCain’s attacks on Obama could have a adverse effect on his campaign with Undecideds and Independents… well duhhhhhhhh
• Apparently some in the gop are ‘buzzing’ about the possible future roll of Gov. Palin should the McPalin ticket falter. This has the possibility to become a real battle royal as some conservatives seeing her as being a primary reason for the campaign faltering as others see her as a savior for the party. If this indeed becomes an intra-party battle, this could be a LOT of fun to watch…
• Palin is taking center stage today on speech about energy and... and… and… sorry, I can’t stop laughing…
• Who would have ever guessed that McCain hates unions and considers them a “threat to one of the fundamentals of democracy.”
• The gop is taking aim at Rep. John Murtha (D-PA) and is spending party money, which is scarce, on defeating him… (Murtha has always been one of those Democrats I could have or not have… while I appreciate his stance against the war in Iraq, at times he opens his mouth and says things he shouldn’t…)
• And have we mentioned? That two days after Election Day, top conservatives will gather to discuss the GOP and how best to revive the party? According to Politico, a “who’s who of conservative leaders” will meet at the Virginia weekend home of one of the party’s most prominent members to begin a conversation about how to breathe life into the party and, should they lose the White House, plans for 2012. (In the interest of not having Karma come back to bite me, or Liberals, on the ass next week, I refrain from any snark right now and will instead say; good… lu… luc… sigh… good luck… wow, that was hard to get out)

In case you hadn’t heard, the in-fighting in the McPalin camps is not only getting better and better; it’s also becoming increasingly public.

Last week we heard that one McCain adviser labeled Palin “a diva” who “takes no advice from anyone.”

Now Mike Allen of Politico is reporting on a top McCain adviser’s criticism of Palin that she’s “a whack job.”

Nice…

When asked to respond to the report that she’s “going rogue,” Palin avowed that the reports were; “… absolutely, 100 percent false. […] “John McCain and I, and our camps, are working together to get John McCain elected.”

I always thought a running mate was running on the presidential nominees ticket and not their own… but notice how Palin says ’camps’… plural...

Uh-oh.

I mean; Ha Ha!

Sad, pathetic and ILLEGAL

Just in case you need assurances that we should NOT get complacent and that one way republicans could win would be to steal this election, I present you this pathetic and illegal example.

Multiple newspapers in Virginia (Richmond Times Dispatch for one) are reporting that fliers are being distributed in the Hampton Roads area that look to deliberately confuse voters about which day they are supposed to vote…

The fucking nerve…

The fliers blatantly advise republicans to vote on one day (November 4th) and Democrats on another, November 5th.

The flier features the logo of the State Board of Elections and states that the voting dates were split in two in order to help ease the load on local balloting officials.

Again... the fucking nerve.

It should be noted that NO emergency action has been take by the Virginia General Assembly, which isn’t even in session, and doesn’t even have the authority to change the date of a federal election… Virginians in all parties join the rest of the country and vote on November 4.

This whole thing pisses me (and Scott) off to no end… that some group would so blatantly attempt to lie and confuse people in order to get a certain person elected is not only sad, pathetic, and illegal but also an insult to the democracy that his country was founded on…

Yes, some people will argue that this attempt at thievery caters exclusively to the “low information voter” (stupid people in crude terms), but that shouldn’t matter. The target audience shouldn’t matter… it’s still an attempt to steal the election while insulting the basic tenets of Democracy and the perpetrators should be found, charged, convicted (and thus lose their ability to vote – sweet irony revenge) and jailed.

In fact, the stupid people are the republicans that think it’s acceptable to perpetrate voter fraud and deception because it will only fool the ‘low-information voter.’

Fraud is fraud…

Deception is deception…

And calling people that are the target of the deception stupid or ‘low-information’ is merely a pathetic attempt at rationalization and justification for an illegal cul ture of gop corruption!

And it’s this kind of ridiculous crap that supports the idea that we mustn’t get complacent…we MUST get out and knock on doors… we MUST talk to our neighbors… we MUST NOT REST…

Don't let this kind of dirty trick go unchallenged and allow them to win…

• More details of the plot to assassinate Sen. Obama are emerging. We at TBWA refuse to publish the details and give more press to the hatred. But to the hate groups I have 2 words for you: Fuck… and you.
• Early voting is recording a huge turnout and, per CNN, is making every day ‘Election Day’…
• The in-fighting in the McPalin campaign continues as aides to Sen. McCain are upset with Gov. Palin for going ‘off-script’ and talking about ClothesGate, and allowing it to get back into the news cycle. (While McCain and his handlers are struggling to make up ground, it now seems as though Palin is looking out for herself and her political future… why else would she attempt to extinguish the clothes rumor again, and thusly pushing it back into the news cycle, if she’s not trying to maintain a possible 2012 run if they lose next week)
• Republican strategist Ed Rollins says that Palin is “definitely is going to be the most popular Republican in this country when this thing is over.” (No snark as I try to wrap my brain around the concept that Palin is the future of the gop and NOT laugh my ass off…)
• Obama continues his ‘closing arguments’ this week and says that the future of the US depends on next week’s election.
• McCain is also spewing his ‘closing arguments’ but they’re not going over so well…
• The ACORN’s are still falling… see what I did there?
• Senior Bush(whacked) Administration officials are saying that the U.S. is “actively considering talks with elements of the Taliban” and listening to calls for the talks to be led by the Afghan central government with some active participation of the U.S. (So they’re trying to have talks with one of our enemies, will McCain speak out against it? Riiiiiight…)
• And have we mentioned? That McCain called for Sen. Ted Stevens (r-AK) to resign this morning? In what could be a brilliant or devastating strategic move by McCain, he’s publically saying that Stevens should step down following yesterday’s conviction on seven felony counts… (If this appeals to Independents by showing McCain to be an individual thinker – obviously I’m referring to the conservative-leaning cons that follow the lemmings over the cliff – than this could reap huge benefits for him. If it does the opposite and angers the conservative base, then McCain could see his polling fall. Stay tuned…)

In case you hadn’t heard, McCain’s rhetoric is getting rather odd.

Yesterday, Sen. McCain said; “I have been tested. […] I’m gonna test them. They’re not gonna test me.”

Um… did McCain just imply that rather than respond to an international crisis provoked by others, he intends to provoke one himself?

Sounds ominous, doesn’t it?

And dangerous?

Sad…

The Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms reports today that a plot to assassinate Sen. Obama has been broken up by the agency.

Apparently the plan was to assassinate Obama and shoot or decapitate 102 black people in a Tennessee murder spree.

With the historic nature of this election and possibly the presidency, we always worried that plots like this were bound to happen… but thankfully this was learned about early on and it was stopped.

People like this will do their best to make us afraid to pull that lever for Mr. Obama… but we must… and I remember what Michelle Obama said about fear months ago; “You can't make decisions based on fear and the possibility of what might happen.”
